Lieutenant’s Report:
Bears Night Out was held August 9, 2008 at the Country Club with swimming
afterwards.
Bear Decadence was a great success, albeit cut short by some guy named
Gustav. Vic (Bear) V. was a trooper, selling beer at the beer bust on Thursday
at Rawhide’s, and Friday at the Phoenix. It was reported that the 5 or so kegs
we used at Rawhide’s…were all donated! (Kudos to Rawhide!) Special thanks
to Sonny and Tibby for cooking the best burgers ever outside JohnPaul’s on
Friday night.
The meeting usually held on the 1st Friday of the month, was postponed until
tonight because of a 10pm curfew. (Thank C. Ray Nagan for that one!)
Bears Night Out for September was held on the 13th at Jaeger’s Restaurant in
Elmwood. 31 people were present, including 7 people from the Lords of
Leather.
Media Updates:
News Letter – Tibby: please keep Tibby informed of any changes to your
contact information. If we do not have correct information, we can not
communicate with you.
Web Site – Eddie: Eddie thanked everyone for their help in making Decadence
such a success. He is receiving favorable comments from all over the country
from people that attended. (At this point in his report, Eddie was interrupted
by several members… and a big round of applause was given to Eddie for the
wonderful job he did as Bear Decadence chairman.)
Special Events/Activities: The NO/AIDS Taskforce Walk fundraiser was
scheduled for September 14th, but due to the recovery from that guy, Gustav,
it was postponed. It will be held on Sunday, September 28th at Audubon
Park. All those that volunteered to assist with this event, please try to make
it. If you cannot, because of the date change, please let one of the Board
Members know as soon as possible.
Old Business: Revision of Bylaws. One of the projects of this year, has been
an update of our Bylaws. Finally, a committee was formed to expedite this
endeavor. Tonight, the revised version of Bylaws was presented to the
members present for consideration. The original plan was to present the
revisions at the September meeting and then vote on these changes at the
October meeting. In light of the revised schedule and meeting date change,
Danny L. made a motion to change the date for voting on the revisions, to the
November meeting. Vic V. 2nd this motion. After discussion, a vote was
taken, and the Motion carried. (The old version of the Bylaws, the “Code of
Ethics” and the revised version of the Bylaws will soon be available on the
website. Copies will also be available at the October meeting. I suspect it
would be asking too much, to include these in the News letter, as the old
version is 5 pages, the Code of Ethics is 2 pages and the revised version is 5
pages, totaling 12…a bit much to be added to our newsletter…but we will
leave that up to Tibby.)
