NOBBTSC Membership Meeting Minutes 8-03-07

Meeting was called to Order by President Steven
Melancon at 8:06pm with 26 members present.

Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the previous meeting can
be found on the website www.neworleansbears.com or
www.bearsofneworleans.com .  They can also be found
in the newsletter. (Please advise Tibby T., the newsletter
editor of any changes in your contact information.) A
motion was made to dispense with the reading of the
Minutes by Vic V., and 2nd by Don M..  Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report was presented by George Tresch,
Treasurer.  Report was accepted by motion made by
(who else) Vic V. and 2nd by Don M. (hmmm… a new
Amen corner???).

Vice President’s Report was given by Danny Lecompte.
He is working diligently on an event for Thursday, August
30, 2007.  Bear Decadence will kick off with a Beer Bust
(aka officially: Buds ‘N’ Suds) outside the Rawhide Bar
from 4pm to 10pm.  Rawhide has donated a keg for this
event and Budweiser has donated the 2nd keg.  Joe,
from Rawhide, was on hand to further explain this event
and thank the Bears for coming to his bar.

Lieutenant’s Report was presented by Tibby T. and Brian
L., Lieutenants.  We had two Bear’s Night Out last month,
1 official, 1 unofficial.  On July 14th, about 11 people
assembled at Deannie’s Restaurant for the unofficial
BNO, because one of the birthday boys could not attend
the official one.  On the 19th of July, 20 people showed
up at De Famile Restaurant for the Dining For Life
fundraiser sponsored by the NO/AIDS Taskforce, and the
official BNO.  Both events were very nice.
Tibby and Brian also reported on the 3rd Friday Bear Bust
on the 20th.

Media Updates:  Tibby reminded everyone that the Club
needs to have current information, in order to send the
newsletter to the proper location for each member.
Eddie P., webmaster, reported that all the tickets for
Bear Decadence have been sold, but not paid for, at the
moment.  It might be possible to get tickets later,
however, there is a waiting list for these tickets as they
become available.

Old Business:  No response from Chevy’s Restaurant, as
yet.

No other Old Business.
New Business:  The logo cups used for our Beer Busts
are running low.  Do we want to order some for at the
cost of about 68 cents each, or start using plain black
cups, at about ½ to 1/3 of the cost?  Vote was taken as
to whether to order more of the logo cups at 68 cents
each….1 in favor, 20 against, therefore we will start
using plain black cups at our Beer Busts, and save the
logo cups for our Banquet and Sire Ursus contest event.

A letter was received from the Board of the New Orleans
Alliance for Pride, thanking NOBBTSC for their help as
security at the PrideFest event in June.  Also included
was a donation form for next year’s event.

A letter was received from Lazarus House thanking
NOBBTSC for our donation after the Bona Petite event
and our other fundraising events on their behalf.

A motion was made by Wayne C. that the Club should
purchase some fans for the patio of the Phoenix Bar, for
use at our meetings.  He suggested an industrial size
would be most effective.  Approximate cost would be
around $200. Motion was 2nd by Fred M.  Vote: 9 in favor,
10 against, motion failed.
