| NOBBTSC Membership Meeting Minutes 12-07-07 Meeting called to Order by President Steven Melancon at 8:04PM with 20 members present. Secretary’s Report: Minutes are found in the Newsletter and on our Website, www.neworleansbears.com or www.bearsofneworleans. com. Motion was made to suspend the reading of the Minutes of the 11-02-07 meeting by Vic V., and 2nd by Danny Lacompte. Treasurer’s Report: Report was presented by Treasurer George Tresch. Report was accepted by Motion made by Vic V., and 2nd by Bryan L. Vice President’s Report: VP Danny Lacompte deferred is report until later in the meeting when the Bear Buddy program is discussed. Lieutenant’s Report: Report given by Bryan Lowrie. The November meeting and nominations of Officers, the 3rd Friday Beer Bust, Bear’s Night Out at Jack Dempsey’s, and the Bake Sale/Rummage Sale were discussed. Media Updates: Newsletter: In the absence of Editor, Tibby T., Pres. Steven reminded everyone that articles for the Newsletter need to be submitted by the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Website: Webmaster Eddie states he is doing the best he can with his computer. More on this, later in the meeting. New Business: Mardi Gras Balls: Pres. Steven has appointed Treasurer George to head up the volunteer efforts for this years Mardi Gras Balls. Most of the “security” slots are already spoken for…but a few remain on a first come first serve basis. The Balls are: Krewe of Amon Ra: January 12th, 8PM at the English Turn Country Club. Krewe of Petronius: January 13th, 8PM at the Scottish Rite Temple, Krewe of Mwindo: January 26th, 8PM at the Union Laborers Hall, Krewe of Satyricon: January 27th, 8PM at the Sugar Mill, Krewe of Armeinius: February 2nd, 8PM at the Alario Center, Lords of Leather: February 3rd, 8PM at the Alario Center Old Business: The changes to the Bylaws voted on at the last Meeting are now in effect. Copies of the updated Bylaws are available to anyone that wishes one. Purchase of a computer for the Club: During this discussion, a Motion was made by Wayne C. to purchase the new computer at the discounted price of $1358.82. This Motion was amended by George T. to increase the cost to $1784.99, in case the discount was not still available. Amendment accepted by Wayne and amended Motion passed by affirmative vote of all present. Events/Activities: Bear’s Night Out: The December BNO is our Christmas Party held this year Dec. 15th, at 7pm at Project Lazarus House. Each person attending is encourages to bring a $20 gift…you bring a gift, you receive a gift. This is when you should also plan to bring your Bear Buddy gifts…for the residents of Lazarus House. Danny stated he has the list of resident’s room numbers and their wish lists. Please see him after the meeting to select your resident. Food for this event is catered by US! By Motion, made by Georg T. and 2nd by Vic V., it was decided to NOT use Bywater BBQ for this event. So if you don’t like the food…you should have brought something better J. The January Bear’s Night Out would be January 12th, the same night as the Krewe of Amon Ra’s Bal Masque XLIII, yes…this is the Ball for King George (aka: George T, our Treasurer, double oy.) After much discussion about this scheduling conflict, It was decided by Motion made by Bryan L. that we postpone our BNO until Jan 19th. Since this is the night of the parade for the Krewe De Vieux, we will meet at 5pm and then go watch the parade after the food. The next Meeting of NOBBTSC will be January 4th, at 8PM. The date for the February meeting will be discussed at that time, since that night is traditionally the Night of the Black Mask. 3rd Friday Beer Busts will be held December 21, 2007 and January 18, 2008 (no, there is NO ball scheduled that night. Election of Officers for 2008: Lieutenant: Jeff B. and Gilbert T. Treasurer: George T. Secretary: Kenneth G. Tibby T. decided to withdraw his name from nomination due to employment constraints, therefore, ya’ stuck with yours truly for another year J Vice President: Bryan L. President: Steven M. Birthdays and Anniversaries were announced. Member announcements: Tonight is NO/AIDS Taskforce’s Art Against AIDS. Bears, Bubbles & Beads: New Years Eve at the Sweet Olive B&B from 4-7PM. This event repeats again on Lundi Gras, February 4th, same location, same time. The LSGRA (Gay Rodeo Assoc) are crowning their 2008 Royalty tomorrow night (12-08) at Cowpokes at 7PM. The Last week of October 2008, they will be hosting the National Convention of the GRA here in New Orleans (save a horse, ride a cowboy). Meeting adjourned 8:47pm by Motion of Vic V.
