MINUTES FOR APRIL 2007
Meeting called to Order by President Steven Melancon at 8:02pm.
There were 31 members present (really…we counted 3 times!!!!).

The Treasurer’s Report was given by (King) George Tresch,
Treasurer. We now have 42 members plus 12 LifeTime members. The
report was accepted by motion of Vic V. and 2nd by Ed P.
The Lieutenant’s Report was given by Tibby Thibodeaux. Events
reported on were the Bears’ Night Out at the Italian Pie (3-10), The Bear’
s Beer Bust benefiting Buzzy’s Boys and Girls (3-30), and the semi-
annual Bears’ Bake Sale (4-01).
The Vice President’s Report was presented by Danny LeCompte, Vice
President. He mentioned the SECC Fall meeting coming up in August,
GA in August; the Sugar Babies play at La Petit Theater on June 14th;
and the Gay Men’s Chorus fundraiser at Cowpoke’s on April 21st.
Media Updates were provided by Tibby Thibodeaux, Newsletter editor,
and Eddie Pujol, Webmaster. A moment was taken by a member, to
give a word of thanks to both of these guys for the wonderful jobs they
have done with their endeavors. (This included all the good work done
by Sonny Cuneo on the Newsletter…but Tibby says “when it is good…I
did it…when it is messed up…Sonny did it…”)
The Bear Backer Awards are finished. Thanks go to Wayne C., for his
donation of the beautiful frames, and to Eddie Pujol for his artistic
vision and effects on these awards.
NOBBTSC will now start holding Beer Busts on the 3rd Friday of each
month, in addition to our usual 1st Friday of each month (after our
Membership Meeting.)
As some of you may already know…Bear’s Life Magazine is
conducting/participating in a survey about Bear gay life. It should be
coming out later in the month or next month. When it arrives…the Club
will pass it on to the membership, for those who wish to complete it.
We, again, have an opening for a Lieutenant position. After discussion
of this topic, Tibby Thibodeaux made a motion to waive the 6 month
membership requirement for this position, for this selection only.
Motion was 2nd by Eddie Pujol and passed; 26 votes FOR, 5 votes
AGAINST…Motion carried. Bryan L. and Clark S. have volunteered to
fill this position. Decision will be made at the next Board meeting,
which will be held April 24th at 7pm, at George Tresch’s home, 1129
Spain Street.
Wayne C. made a motion that the Club purchase 2 tables and 1 canopy,
for use at events where Bears gather. Motion 2nd by George Tresch
and passed unanimously.
George Tresch presented a certificate of participation from CLAWS
from their recent event.
Upcoming Events & Activities:
Easter Parade, April 8th, suggestion made we meet on Esplanade
between Royal and Bourdon Streets. “King” George will be riding in
carriage #13.
Bears’ Night Out for April will be on the 14th at Five Happiness on
Carrollton Ave.
NOBBTSC Anniversary Crawfish Boil & BBQ is being held April 21st at
George Tresch’s home, 1129 Spain Street from 2 to 6pm. The event is
free for members and a $10 donation is requested for each guest. The
Club will provide the crawfish, hamburgers, hot dogs etc…members
are encouraged to bring side dishes of their choice. However, please
let one of the Officers know what you are bringing, so we don’t end up
with too much of one thing…and none of another.
Parents visiting Day for our beloved child, the black bear at the
Audubon Zoo will be May 9th at 3pm. Please let chief parent, Eddie
Pujol know if you wish to attend, as only a certain number of invitations
are available. (Suggestion was made to have a contest to name our
“baby”…but we decided to see him/her first).
Bears’ Night Out for May is the 12th at Jaeger’s restaurant on Elmwood
Parkway at 7pm.
Sergio F. reminded the Club that the NO/AIDS Prevention Conference is
being held May 19th thru 23rd at the Hilton Riverside. Volunteers are
needed, as this is a national conference and will have many persons
attending.
The Sire Ursus contest and banquet will be held August 31, 2007. More
info when it becomes available.
Birthdays and Anniversaries were announced and pins distributed.
