The Floor was given to George Tresch, Treasurer, for a brief announcement.  Former

He was a registered nurse at Charity and University Hospitals for many years.  He was
also a member of the New Orleans Gay Men’s Chorus.  Roy was 47 years old, and he will
be greatly missed by the Gay Community.

On January 2, 2007, the new Officers held their first Board meeting for 2007.  Board
meetings will be held two Tuesdays before the general membership meeting and is open
to the general membership.  George Tresch has generously offered his home for these

someone goes to www.neworleansbears.com it will be forwarded to the current site,
www.bearsofneworleans.com .  (Secretary’s note:  Ed has done a wonderful job!)
OLD BUSINESS:
Notice to membership: As you know, all club dues are due and payable by January 31st,
2007.  Since we made Bylaw changes, a letter is being sent from the President of
NOBBTSC to all the Life Members regarding this change in their dues.

The Bear Backer awards are being prepared for this year’s recipients.  They are:
Bears of San Francisco, Kansas City Pioneers, and South East Conference of Clubs.

The Bears are again providing Security for several Mardi Gras balls this year.  The
Krewe of AmonRa is holding their Bal Masque on Feb. 3rd at the Long Shoreman’s Hall.
We hope to provide 10 members for this task.  We currently have 9 that have
volunteered, but more could be used, if available.  The Krewe of Armeinius is hosting
their Ball on Feb. 17th, at the Alerio Center off the West Bank Expressway.  We have 5
volunteers for this ball.

STANDING BUSINESS:
The Bear’s Night Out for January will be held on the 13th, at Ho Ho’s Chinese Buffet
located on Airline Highway, at Labarre Street.  This is just East of (or…on the New
Orleans side) of the elevated Causeway Circle.  The time is…of course, 7pm.

The Bear’s Night Out for February is being held on the 10th, at Chevy’s on Manhattan
Blvd, on the Westbank.  Also, being held at 7pm.

If anyone has any suggestions for places to go for our Bear’s Night Out for the rest of
the year, please feel free to voice those suggestions to any Officer.

The February meeting of NOBBTSC will be Feb. 2nd, at 8pm at the Phoenix Bar.

NEW BUSINESS:
We have on opening for a Lieutenant.  Anyone interested, please contact an Officer, as
the Bylaws state the Board appoints persons to any vacancies.  (3 people applied for
this position: Clark S., Matt L., and Tibby T.)  The appointment will be made at the next
Board meeting and announced at the February meeting.

Proceeds from the BLOCK beer bust in December will be sent to Buzzy’s Boys & Girls.
The hosting club usually decides this in advance, so it can be advertised.
Since the Bears was asked to host this one, very shortly before the event, this was
please pass that suggestion on to any Officer.

The Krewe of King Arthur will be parading on Feb. 11th, 2007.  The Club would like to
host a picnic at the corner of Josephine Street and St. Charles Avenue, much like we did
last year.  We did this last year, and a good time was had by all.  The following Sunday,
(Feb. 18th,) the Krewe of Thoth will be parading along the same route.  Because of
crowd size, we hope to meet at the same area, but a “picnic” per se will be difficult to
host.  However, please come on out, bring your chair, cooler, and any food you wish to
share.  We are Bears…someone will eat it!

The Banquet and Sire Ursus contest held at Southern Decadence (Labor Day Weekend)
are now in the planning stages.  Our first item, is to find a location to host the events.
(The Barn behind Cowpokes is booked…for the foreseeable future.)  More of these
events at future meetings will be found under Standing Business.

MEMBERS’ ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Dennis H. took a moment to publicly congratulate Ed P. for the wonderful job he has
done on the website.  This was followed by thunderous applause from the membership.

Dave J. announced there will be another Bears & Bubbles (or, maybe Bear Masquerade)
at the Sweet Olive Bed & Breakfast on Lundi Gras, Feb. 19th from 4 to 7pm.

It was mentioned that the Krewe De Veux will be parading on Feb. 3rd .  Unfortunately,
this is the same night as the Krewe of AmonRa’s Ball, that the Bears are providing
security for.

Birthdays and Anniversaries were announced.

Krewe of King Arthur Ball, Jan. 12th, at the Astor Crown Plaza Hotel.
